In this episode, Christine Corbidge continues working with Luna, her homebred mare turning six at the end of the year. Building on the foundational four directional yields discussed previously, Christine demonstrates how to apply these principles to real-world scenarios, focusing on obstacles that are relevant to trail riding. Using a tight, narrow obstacle, Christine shows how to test Luna’s comfort and responsiveness when navigating through confined spaces, similar to those encountered on a trail ride.
What to Expect:
- Principles to Purpose: Watch as Christine moves from theoretical directional yields to practical applications in trail riding using obstacles.
- Tight Spaces: Learn how to guide a horse through narrow obstacles, testing their comfort and responsiveness in confined spaces.
- Lead and Drive Techniques: Discover how Christine uses both leading and driving techniques to maneuver Luna through the obstacle, building her confidence and understanding.
- Adjustable Obstacles: Understand the benefits of using portable, adjustable obstacles that can be widened or narrowed based on your horse’s comfort level.
Benefits:
- Real-World Preparation: Prepare your horse for the challenges of trail riding by practicing with obstacles that simulate real trail scenarios.
- Confidence Building: Build your horse’s confidence and willingness to navigate tight spaces by carefully managing their exposure to these obstacles.
- Safety and Trust: Learn how to create a safe training environment that fosters trust and communication between you and your horse.
This episode is essential for anyone looking to transition from basic training principles to practical trail riding preparation, using obstacles to challenge and enhance their horse’s skills.
